MEREDITH RED CROSS
The next meeting of the Meredith Branch of the Red Cross Society will be held in the Mechanics' Hall, on Tuesday afternoon, 16th August, at 2.45 pm, and will take the form of a gift afternoon, when any gift suitable for hospital will be gratefully received. With the roll-call there has been a revival in the Meredith branch, and 63 members are now on the roll. The secretary still has some membership buttons for those desirous of assisting others in need.
A letter has been received from the general secretary (Miss P U Robertson), thanking the members for the gift of socks that was sent away at the last meeting for the vocational trainees, some of whom are in needy circumstances, while others are suffering from the effects of wounds and sickness. There are few organisations as worthy of voluntary help as the Red Cross Branch, which is still doing a magnificent self-sacrificing work for the sick and suffering, and each unit can do with the assistance of every individual resident in the various districts.
