FOR THE RED CROSS
An entertainment was held in the Parish Hall on Friday night in aid of the Linton State School War Relief Fund for Red Cross purposes. There was a large attendance. Mr A J Smith occupied the chair.
The main part of the programme was provided by Mr Francis, of Pleasant street State school, Ballarat, who gave his lantern lecture on his travels through Europe and on the Gallipoli campaign. He also provided some amusing cinematograph pictures for the children. The lecture was much appreciated.
Other items as follows were interspersed with the lecture:- Chorus, "What do you think of Australia now," by the school children; "God bless daddy at the war," Joyce Commons; humorous duet, "You sha'nt come and play in our yard," Misses S Todd and E Ball; dialogue, "The backward pupil," Misses S Ralf and C Nicol; song, "Anzac," Miss S Todd; song, "The gallants of England," Master Harold Bennett. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to the performers on the motion of Messrs L Sparrow and E Ball.
